Coding & Game Design Workshop | Sat 12th August

Hwa Young Jung is an award winning multidisciplinary designer working in art, culture and science, with a passion for opening up technology to everyone. On Saturday 12th August, she will join us at Cooke’s Studios as part of Lost Stations to talk about her work as well as lead a fun and dynamic coding workshop.

Based in Manchester (UK) Hwa Young has been involved in grassroots led community spaces, makers and artists in the North and internationally for over ten years – running hackathons, exhibitions, workshops and few laser cut trophies along the way. She is ¼ of Re-Dock, an artist collective working with people and technology based in Liverpool & Manchester and ⅓ of Domestic Science, a collective of artists using interactive non-fiction to explore narratives around science and data that surrounds us everyday.

Open to any adults keen to learn skills in coding and basic game design, the workshop will give you an opportunity to make your own interactive fiction. Learn how to create Text Adventure Games using Twine, where you choose the paths for the reader to take. Interactive Fiction is a non-linear form of literature, creating a dialogue with the reader to explore multiply strands of narratives. You’ll learn how to create your own game…. Write! Add photos! Maybe even add some sound to your creation… It will be a fun and dynamic day-long workshop, suitable for coding beginners and those who are new to using Twine and/or game design.

Please apply for this workshop using this online form. Please note the workshop is open to those aged 15+. Deadline: Midnight Monday 7th August. If you require any further information please email joanna@signalfilmandmedia.co.uk.
