North West BFI Film Academy Premieres Autumn Veil

Signal’s young filmmakers who attended the 10-week BFI Film Academy course from October to February premiered their final film to the public on Thursday 30th May.

The BFI Film Academy is an exciting programme delivered by a range of regional deliverers, which offers hands-on filmmaking courses, aimed at developing knowledge and skills in filmmaking for 16-19 year olds. Signal Film and Media is one of three partner deliverers of the BFI in the North West and has been delivering the course to interested youngsters for 3years. Our competitive programme offered 17 participants weekly workshops that culminated into a two-day film shoot at Ford Park in Ulverston, with top industry professionals and actors.

After weeks of editing the group, eager to share their film, delivered their hard work to a large audience that included family, friends and the Mayor of Barrow. Along with screening their short film ‘Autumn Veil’ the group also had the chance to screen their fantastic behind the scenes film. The public also had the chance to Q&A the group.

We would like to take this chance to congratulate our BFI Film Academy graduates on their efforts and commitment to the course. Good luck for the future whether you find yourself in the film and media industry or otherwise.
