FREE CINEMA PROGRAMMING WORKSHOPS FOR 16 – 30 YEAR OLDS!

Signal Cinema are looking to recruit a ‘Young Programmers’ Cinema Committee for our exciting forthcoming season of LGBT 50 themed-film screenings. We are looking for participants aged between 16 – 30 years old who are available during some evenings & weekends and would be interested in learning the variety of skills in producing community cinema screenings.

Participants will learn:

  • Advocacy in supporting LGBT Human Rights & what positive representation looks like with indie filmmaker Sophie Broadgate
  • Learn the technical & marketing ‘How-to’s’ of programming & find out future career opportunities in the film industry
  • Visiting guest speaker (Writer & Director) Mike Scott will give an overview of his 8-year festival programming career & expert opinions.
  • You will programme 2 ‘outreach’ special screening events as part of the team!

We are looking for conscientious people who want to learn new skills, who will positively represent and raise awareness of LGBT issues through the work of our community cinema programme.

Thur 12th Oct: 6-8pm: YPC WORKSHOP 1: INTRO TO PROGRAMMING WITH SPECIAL GUEST FESTIVAL PROGRAMMER MIKE SCOTT

Thur 19th Oct: 6-8pm:YPC WORKSHOP 2: CONSCIENCIOUS PROGRAMMING WITH INDIE FILMMAKER SOPHIE BROADGATE

Thur 2nd Nov: 6-8pm: YPC WORKSHOP 3: WHAT’S POSSIBLE / INDUSTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Thur 9th Nov: 6-8pm: YPC WORKSHOP 4: PUBLICISING & MARKETING YOUR EVENT

Thur 23rd Nov: 6-8pm: YPC WORKSHOP 5: TECHNICAL SETUPS & TROUBLESHOOTING 101

Thur 30th Nov: 6pm onwards: POP-UP EVENT SPECIAL SCREENING 1

Thur 21st Dec: 6pm onwards: POP-UP EVENT SPECIAL SCREENING 2

If you would be interested in becoming a Young Programmer we invite you to pop along to one of our informal ‘Meet and Greets;’ where you can chat about the Cinema Committee and LGBT 50 programme with members of our Cinema Team.

The ‘Meet and Greets’ will be at:

Barrow Library:  TUES 12 SEPTEMBER from 12.30-1.30pm

The Forum: WED 13 SEPTEMBER  from 12-1pm
