Walney Animation Workshop Final Screening

Our Window on Walney project has been exceptionally busy over the past few weeks delivering workshops to South Walney Juniors and running events for local residents. Russell Peet, a local animator has led 6 animation workshops for Signal over the past two months. The children have learnt a generous amount of computer skills whilst also gaining an insight into speaking and interviewing techniques with older people from Walney.

A final screening for the makers of the animation was held in the school hall at South Walney Juniors, where 130 pupils were accounted for to watch the short production. The participants of the workshops stood up and explained to the rest of their school how they managed to create their stop motion animations.

‘A fantastic project which combined ICT and local history. The children were fascinated by the stories told by the older residents..  This project helped develop so many skills: creative, team-work, resilience amongst others.’

– Michelle Banks, Year 6 Teacher at South Walney Juniors.
