Join archivist Susan Benson for a guided walk exploring the locations featured in our Outdoor Photography Exhibition featuring newly commissioned photography series; The Binding Tide by Nicholas J. R. White and The Workers by Dawn Parsonage.

Susan, who has lived in Barrow since 1986 and worked with Cumbria Archives for 38 years, will share fascinating insights into the town’s history as we follow a route through key locations in the town centre.

The Route:
The walk will start at Barrow Library (meet in the Foyer). We will visit Barrow Station, Cavendish Street, Dandy’s and the Town Hall – with stops at the outdoor exhibition sites featuring images by Dawn Parsonage and Nicholas J.R. White, inspired by historical photographs from the Sankey Collection. Along the way, Susan will bring the town’s past to life with stories and historical context about the buildings we pass.
