How can we make a poem in which our impulse is best served by the way we assemble it? I think it’s by giving space to our impulses whilst knowing something of poetry’s craft. 

These monthly poetry workshops led by Kate Davis will take a deep dive into how poems work. We’ll look at form, metre, line, letter and sound, at the economy and the wild extravagances of language. We’ll learn how to critique work and close read poems by other writers. We’ll find our impulse and craft it. 

After every 3rd session there’ll be a public open mic event where anyone can share work in a friendly, supportive atmosphere or just listen and enjoy.

You really don’t need any experience. Sometimes it might feel like the hard yards but it will be fascinating and occasionally thrilling.
