Creative Workshop with Felicity Hammond
Free Workshop | 18+
Sat 13 June 2026 | 3-5pm
Enjoy a unique workshop led by the artist behind REACTOR, Felicity Hammond, exploring the theme of Simulated Bodies…
The worlds that Felicity Hammond creates in her installations draw upon ‘digital materialities’; she aims to draw attention to the flaws and errors in our increasingly hybrid world, where digital and physical spaces are entangled.
In her exhibition at Signal, Felicity has created a speculative fictional world, imagining that an autonomous submarine has become conscious. There are many characters in this world, from the submarine itself, to the workers (or absent workers) of the control room and even a whale…
For this accompanying workshop, Hammond invites participants to imagine further characters and props that might inhabit the world. Together, we will make costumes and objects associated with the ideas generated by workshop participants, and stage them in the installation. The workshop will culminate in staged performative photographs which participants will make together.
Key takeaways from the workshop will be:
- Creative idea generation, world building and character building
- Practical making skills, producing costume and props
- Staged photography
