JESSICA EL MAL

Jessica El Mal is an artist who uses critical research, multidisciplinary projects, and speculative future imaginaries to challenge perceptions of power dynamics. Often centred around collaboration, co-curation and collective knowledge systems, projects usually include research, workshops and artwork intended to have a lasting effect past the point of production. The most recent project Grounds for Concern is currently exhibiting at MAMA Rotterdam, challenges the authority of man-made borders amidst ecological crisis. Previous projects have been with Manchester International Festival, Journey’s Festival International and Signal Film and Media, as well as many collaborations with non-arts organizations such as the Collegium for Language in a Changing Society, Lets Keep Growing and many more.

Jessica has been working as an artist for the last 5 years, in this time she has gradually developed a successful approach to documenting and presenting her art practice online, including the recent development of her website. Jessica will be discussing this learning curve as an emerging artist, and sharing key learnings.
