Inspiring Barrow project funded Cooke’s Crew is a weekly filmmaking club for 11-16 year olds at Signal Film and Media, now in it’s final year ending April 2016. Cooke’s Crew young filmmakers have made some great films and learnt some tricks of the trade with professional filmmakers over the past three years and now it is time to see other young people’s films too!
Signal Film and Media are organising a Kids Short Film Competition for 7 – 11 year olds within the Barrow Borough. The theme is ‘Inspiring Barrow’ which can be interpreted in any way. It is free to enter and the film can be made in any format. So get out your phones, tablets, cameras or go pro’s and get filming! The only constriction is in length, the minimum is 30 seconds and the maximum no more than 3 minutes. Entries with the filmmaker details are to be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline is Tuesday 22nd February 2016.

The shortlist will be decided amongst the current Cooke’s Crew cohort. An event on Tuedsay 8th March at 5pm will be the shortlisted films screening event for all the filmmakers to come along and await the final announcements. The winners from the anonymous shortlist will be chosen by a panel of professional filmmakers. There will be different winners for each category of drama, documentary, animation and they will be split into two age groups of the under 11’s and the 12’s and over. There will be prizes and certificates for the winners.
