Welcome to Cooke’s Crew

A fun weekly film and media project for 11-16-year-olds in the Furness area.  An initially a three-year project funded by Inspiring Barrow as part of the Big Lottery in 2013, Cooke’s Crew has since been funded by The Dulverton Trust, People’s Postcode Trust and Cumbria County Council.  This was the first time Signal was able to offer a long term regular young persons project and proved popular and successful.

Working with a range of filmmaker mentors participants take part in a series of workshops over a period of 20 weeks, of growing complexity and challenges, which they have increasing amounts of autonomy and control over, as their skills and confidence increase.

Participants are encouraged to work towards an Arts Award qualification whilst producing a short film they can present to an audience at the end of the project.  Mentoring and pastoral care are incorporated into the sessions enabling progression and signposting onto other projects within Signal.

Workshops include:

| Scriptwriting & Storyboarding | Camera & Directing | Sound and Production | Animation | Set building | Photography |Editing and SFX |
