Greta

1913

written by Peter Sandbach

Raymond and Edward Sankey spent a great deal of time on ferries and used the opportunity to record passing ships, principally the Fleetwood, Isle of Man and Belfast steamers and the Fleetwood fishing fleet.

Greta was built in 1906 for the Wyre Steam Trawling Co. of Fleetwood.  She was requisitioned for service as a minesweeper in 1914.  She was returned to her owners in 1919, only to be immediately sold to Aberdeen owners to pay off her outstanding mortgage.
