Admiralty Yacht Enchantress

September 1912

written by Dr Peter Schofield

Following the Admiralty’s costly efforts at yacht design, a new Enchantress was put out to tender.  The contract was won by Harland and Wolff Ltd., Belfast and the launch took place on 7th November 1903. In late 1904 Enchantress arrived at Portsmouth Dockyard for alterations including the shortening of the funnel, to which was fitted a mouth, and the painting of her hull black; originally white.
